Some paintings begin with a compositional idea instead of a specific scene. This small work explores the visual tension of two paths meeting, showing how the eye is pulled in different directions before resting at the point of convergence. One path arrives from the left, the other from the right. They join and continue toward a white house glimpsed through bare winter trees in the middle distance. A lone bench sits in the grass to the right. Two shafts of bright light cut across, leading you further along.

The bare trees are rendered with delicate attention. Their structure is clear against a cool grey-blue sky, and their shadows fall in long diagonals across the paths below. The palette is muted and wintry: purples, greys, muted greens, and the faint warmth of the distant sky.

This is a quietly compelling small work. The converging paths draw the eye naturally to the distant house, creating a sense of journey and arrival in a compact space.
