'Whispering Waters', part of the Small Works series, was painted entirely on location near Erstavik's beach in Saltsjöbaden. This is a hidden corner — a woodland-feeling detail of a close-up of a gnarled, pale tree trunk leaning over deep blue-green water, its branches dipping toward the surface. Green foliage catches the light above. The water below is dark and reflective, the rocks beneath it just visible.

What drew me to this spot was its sense of calm and seclusion. Being here felt like discovering a world entirely my own, where the sounds and colors seemed more intense and immediate. I found myself captivated by the gentle movements of the water and the way the light played across the leaves and branches.

I prefer to leave my plein air paintings exactly as they are, rather than keep working on them back in the studio. At 20 × 22.5 cm, this small work rewards close looking. A painting about the intimacy of found places.
