The Tree That Danced, original oil painting, Gotland, Sweden

On Gotland's exposed shorelines, trees grow in shapes entirely dictated by the
wind. They lean, twist, and reach sideways - less planted than sculpted by decades of Baltic weather. This painting looks at one of those trees, caught mid-movement, even in stillness. The sea beyond them is choppy and bright. Below, the foreground is alive with richly textured ochre and russet coastal scrubland, painted with vigorous impasto strokes.

A warm peach-and-cream sky in the evening gives the painting its light and mood. This is not a quiet scene; there is energy in every brushstroke, from the churning sea to the wind-shaped trees and the restless scrub in the foreground.

Painted in oils with loose, expressive brushwork, this piece balances the lively shape of the tree with the calm of the surrounding coastline. It is a work about resilience, rhythm, and the quiet drama of nature. The title captures something real about this tree. It has adapted to move with the wind rather than resist it. There is grace in that, and this painting tries to find it.

Owning an original piece of art is special. When you look at a painting and see its layers, textures, brush marks, and colors, you feel a real connection to the artist and the work. Each piece is unique and brings beauty and authenticity to your home. My art comes from my experiences moving to new countries and building a new life. Creating art helps me connect with people, and I feel this is what I am meant to do.

As you may know, oil paint takes quite a long time to fully dry, sometimes up to six months to a year in thicker areas. Oil paint cannot be varnished until this process has been completed. You can tell when an oil painting is dry when you can't make an indent in the paint. My work is usually touch-dry in around 4-6 weeks. At this point, it can be given a retouch varnish, which protects the work from dust and dirt while allowing the paint to continue drying fully.
