Two classic wooden sailboats are moored bow-first, seen nearly
from water level. The white hull of one faces the viewer directly; beside it,
the deep red hull of the other curves away. Between and around them, the water
is an extraordinary turquoise-green — the color of sheltered Baltic water on a
bright day.

The main focus here is the water. It reflects and bends light in
different ways across the painting: deep blue in the shadows, bright aqua in
the sunlight, and dotted with white highlights where the surface shifts. The
boats hold the scene together, but the water seems to move with energy.

This oil painting uses bold, flowing brushstrokes and stands out
as one of the most colorful pieces in the collection. The close perspective
and strong color give it a lively, joyful feeling.

Exhibited in
Lumens, Sally Herriott's solo exhibition at Grünewaldvillan, Saltsjöbaden,
